Why companies call us in

The constraint is rarely a shortage of options

Most of the companies we work with are not short of ideas about where they could grow. They are short of a defensible answer to where they should grow first, and why.

That answer needs three things that are difficult to hold at the same time: an honest read of the market, a realistic view of what the company can execute with the people it has, and a sequence that does not spread a small commercial team across four geographies at once.

Strategic advisory is the engagement where we work that out with you, rather than handing over a deck of options and leaving the decision on the table.

The goal
A clear, documented and actionable go-to-market plan.
The engagement

How the work runs

01
Consultation

Working sessions with your leadership team on the technology, the commercial objectives, the constraints, and what has already been tried and has not worked.

02
Research and validation

Market sizing, customer needs, competitive positioning, regulatory considerations and routes to market for the segments actually under discussion, not a survey of the whole field. Where it is useful, we test the central assumptions against our own network before they are written into a plan, so the plan rests on signal rather than inference.

03
Facilitated planning

We run the sessions where the choices get made, and document them as they are made rather than reconstructing them afterwards.

04
Development of the go-to-market plan

The agreed decisions are written up as a single go-to-market plan, with priorities, owners, timelines and measures of success, ready to act on.

What the plan defines
Market opportunity and priority segments
Competitive positioning
Value proposition per segment
Pricing and business model
Market entry strategy
Sales and distribution channels
Partnership strategy
Milestones and measures of success
Customer interactive models
What a go-to-market plan may include
Strategic value mapping
What you take away
A documented strategic business plan
A prioritized segment and geography sequence
A partnership and channel map
Pricing and business model recommendations
A milestone plan with measures of success
The reasoning behind each choice, written down
What we need from you

Leadership time in the working sessions, and honesty about the constraints. This engagement does not work as a document exchange.

When this may not be the right time

If the product is still evolving week to week, or the market research is not yet tied to a clear decision, it may be too early for a go-to-market plan. In those cases, we will be upfront about what would be more useful first.
